Outreach
Post 58 aims to serve our greater Portland-area community and give back to the outdoor world. In efforts to do so we have teamed up with local organizations such as HOLLA, Urban Nature Partners PDX, Vive NW, and Betties 360 to offer student-led outdoor trips and activities for the youth in these organizations.
Our outreach partners:
Holla
HOLLA exists to empower students of color in Portland. They offer a wide array of programs including the HOLLA school, a public charter school in East Portland centering youth of color. The Post works mainly in conjunction with their mentorship program, which pairs volunteer mentors with school age students 5-18.
Urban Nature Partners PDX
Urban Nature Partners PDX empowers youth from historically underserved Portland neighborhoods through long term one-on-one mentoring relationships and access to meaningful outdoor experiences.
Betties 360
Betties 360 serves under-served adolescent girls in the Portland community by instilling confidence, well-being, and community through outdoor activities and life-skill training for free, empowering them to be healthy, successful, and engaged in their communities.
Programs for Youth foster care
Post 58 works with the State Department of Human Services, Project Lemonade and Parenting with Intent to offer activities and trips for youth in foster care in the Portland area. The Post is especially excited about these partnerships because no other organization in the area offers trips of this nature – volunteer, student-led outdoor adventures with an emphasis on peer-to-peer interaction.
Vive NW
Vive NW aims to connect local LatinX and all communities to the outdoors and the extensive adventures offered by this landscape. Their objective is to provide valuable information, outdoor experiences and opportunities that will empower all communities to live a healthier and more engaged lifestyle, while creating a sense of ownership and stewardship towards nature.
